Trilla Banks Is The Next Big Star Brewing Out of Toronto
𝓣𝓻𝓲𝓵𝓵𝓪 Banks is the rising Toronto artist creating a path toward musical success all on his own. With a hot new single and video for his “Spend It” material, he is looking forward to becoming an international success like Drake, Tory Lanez and The Weeknd. I caught up with Toronto’s finest for a candid Q&A to discuss his new single and plans for the future.
Check it out below.
Who inspires you musically?
I am inspired musically by Lil Wayne, Drake, Biggie, Tupac, 50 Cent, Rick Ross, Young Thug, Kanye, Lloyd Banks, and Fabolous to name a few. But the list goes on and on…
How did you get your start in the music business?
I said I wanted to start taking my craft seriously, so I started dropping more music, did shows and built connections. When I met my boy 7, we built up a catalogue and went to Atlanta in 2016. When I got there I saw how real it all was because it’s Atlanta. I’ve been back and forth about every year every since. It is definitely a 2nd home to me. That city has a different energy that I respect and love.
What does your family think about your new forging music career?
I am very blessed, as they support me and ride with me. It means everything to have their support.
Is it harder being from Canada trying to break into the American music scene? If so why do you think that is?
Years ago I’d say yes but the way Drake has paved a way for our City, the ear from the rest of the world is there and the light we have gives us attention.
How has Drake opened up the door for rising artist like you as y’all are from the same city?
I feel like he shined a light on our a city and showed the world how Toronto truly has something to offer. When I go travel places and mention I’m from Toronto I feel the positive shift in energy from other creatives and that alone helps someone like me trying to make a name for myself.
Who are some other Toronto artists that paved the way for you potentially?
There are so many Toronto artists that pave the way everyday but the main ones I’d mention are Drake, The Weeknd, Tory Lanez, and Pressa.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
A few projects in, signed or with my own label. Around the right people I need to be with to continue to flourish and build.
